In 1979, the JPF_ class was relettered to VHFY. These wagons were numbered 601 - 610.
They were used for transporting fertiliser from Corio Sidings to Wodonga Coal Sidings where a fertiliser sub depot was located.
In 1988/1989, wagons 604, 606 - 610 were modified and reclassed to VHFF.
In 1993/1994 another ten wagons were converted to VHFF. These wagons were ex VHFX 20 - 23 and 611 - 616 ex VHAF. Vehicles kept the same numbers on conversion.
This class originated in 1990/1991.
In 1991, four wagons were converted from VHAY / VHAF. These wagons were 20, 21, 22, 23.
In 1990/1991, thirteen VHCX were modified to VHFX. The VHCX numbers were retained.
In 1994, VHFX 20 - 23 were reclassed to VHFF.
