In the 1910 recoding the First Class bogie carriages coded _AA_ were recoded and renumbered to 'A'. The final number group was: 1 - 100, 102, 103, 105 - 151, 153 - 174 for 171.
Between 1907 and 1914 the majority of these carriages were lengthened from 45' or 50' to 57' or 59' ( inches not included here ). This lengthening project spanned the recoding from AA to A as well; records show the date lengthened but not the code change. Whilst it can be assumed the the code was altered as well this may not have been so.
Between 1910 and 1927 most of the carriages were modified for other uses and reclassed accordingly. They were converted to:
The remaining cars remaned in service until the late 1950's when they were converted to _WW_ - Workmen's sleeping cars.
