In 1958/1959 the seven _CK_ wagons were converted for use as cement powder transporters. They were reclassed to X and retained the same numbers.
Traffic was between Fyansford and North Melbourne.
Between 1959 and 1962 another seventy wagons were built. These were number 8 - 77.
In 1961/1962, seven wagons were modified to carry flour. X 1 - 7 were modified to _FX_ 1 - 7.
All remaining X wagons were recoded to _J__ account of the introduction of letter 'X' symbol for bogie exchange vehicles in 1963.
