For use with breakdown trains, a kitchen car was converted from a surplus passenger carriage in 1961. It was stabled in the Spencer St Passenger Yard, Melbourne for many years.
The car was built as _AA_ 272 in 1891, went to _A__ 167 in 1910, _B__ 139 in 1910 and to WK 1 in 1959.
B 139 had been stripped and used as a works sleeper since the 1950's.
The car was scrapped and the body sold about 1982.
