Two cars were issued to traffic in 1893 for the Bendigo line.
The cars were twelve wheelers.
They were placed into traffic as Pioneer 1st and 'Pioneer 2nd'.
Pioneer 2nd entered service 30/6/1893. It was fitted with Westinghouse brake and had seating for 72.
In about 1895 the car was fitted with toilets.
In 1921 the car was relettered to _BL_ 13.
In June 1963 the car was lettered as 'Pioneer', though still classed as BL.
Due to their historical significance, the car cars retained the 'Second Class' lettering when all second class cars were being re-lettered to 'Economy' from the late 1960's.
