In August 1996, two VOCX (numbers 244 and 291) and eighteen VOFX open wagons were recoded VZOX to indicate Departmental use. These wagons were then used transporting dirty ballast from track work areas to Brooklyn Tip. In November 1999, the wagons passed to Great Northern Railway control where they were recoded to GOBX. Since CFCLA took over the operations of GNR, some of these wagons have been further recoded to COBX.
