This car was built by the Gilbert Car Company of America and issued to service in 31/10/1889 as a Joint Stock Sleeping Car. The car was numbered _O__ 29.
It was was used on the overnight express train service between Melbourne and Adelaide.
A photograph exists of this car with the Class and Number "O 29" lettering as well as the car name "Latrobe".
On the 30/9/1910 the car became known as "Latrobe".
On 10/1/1920 the car was handed over to the Victorian Railways.
It was scrapped May 1929.
