Between 1972 and 1974, seven wagons were converted from SKX_. The numbers were 13, 14, 44 - 47 and 71.
The wagons were modified with 'aligned' bogies and container fittings for 37' road haul truck trays. Most of the SKF wagons ran on the standard gauge between Melbourne and Sydney.
In the 1979 recoding three wagons only in the class were relettered to VFKY.
The remaining vehicles were in storage. In 1984 the remaining wagons were modified for rail transport use and recoded to VFRY.
The three VFKY wagons were: 46, 47 and 71. In 1984, along with the remaining SKF wagons, the class was modified and coded to VFRY.
