In 1919, fifteen vehicles were placed into service for 'Excursion traffic' on the narrow gauge lines. Nine cars were built new and six cars were modified from existing stock.
In April of 1919, NBH cars 1 to 6 were released for traffic. These cars were rebuilt from NQR_ drop side freight wagons numbered 31, 33, 36, 38, 39 and 46 respectively.
Cars NBH 7 to 15 were built earlier and then issued to traffic during December 1919.
The 'H' in the code is the same suffix applied to broad guage stock downgraded and used in excursion traffic.
Most of the cars were scrapped or withdrawn from service from 1950 to 1961.
