 1983 - Guards Van Recoding

 With the freight stock recoded to the 1979 system, the main group of bogie wagons left were guards vans and service ehicles.

Guards vans started to be recoded in late 1983 using the letters VVxx for V-Victoria, V-van and xx the describer for type and bogie/speed.

• _CA_ vans were recoded to VVAP
• ZLP_ vans were recoded to VVBP
• _CP_ vans became VVCP
• _ZF_ vans became VVDY
• ZMF_ class became VVEY

The van sequence runs from oldest to new stock.
