Was originally in Joint Stock service between Melbourne and Adelaide as _O__ 2. O 2 was a Mann Boudior Car built in 1886. It featured Westinghouse Brake and was fitted out with 20 sleeping berths.
In 1908 it was removed from Joint Stock service and placed into VR service as Sleeping Car No 6. This is interesting as for 1908 it is the only numbered sleeping car ; there were no identifiable cars running as No.1 - No.5. However there were five Sleeping Cars in service at 1908: O.29, O.30, Adelaide, Ballarat and Wolseley.
The car became 'Avon' in 1911.
The car 'Avon' was modified as a 'Combined Sleeper and Diner' and issued to service on 2/12/1911.
The car was scrapped about 1929.
This car entered service in 1969 and was converted from the Joint Stock Sleeping Car Acheron.
