In December 1923, the Victorian Railways took control of the Deniliquin and Moama Railway Company.
Amongst the aquisition were wagons coded 'ND'. The wagons were numbers: 13, 65 - 76.
They were ballast wagons: used for transporting ballast and gravel for track maintenance.
There have been no construction records found. They would seem to have been built in the mid 1880's.
All these were scrapped by 1925.
The code letters come from the use of N to describe ballast type wagons and the suffix 'D' to indicate D&MR stock. It appears that all the D&M stock was originally uncoded. At a later date, presumed to be the mid 1900s, the VR equivalent codes with the suffix 'D' were used.
