Between 1993 and 1995, seventy five VQCX wagons were reclassed to VQRF. The wagons were reclassed to preserve sufficient container wagons for the Echuca - Geelong rice traffic. At this time all VQCX were to placed into interstate traffic under NRC_ control.
The wagons were numbered 1 - 75.
At 1997, the vehicles were still in service.
