With the introduction of Walkers type railcars, trailer cars were built to increase capacity as required. The trailers were of similar design but were double ended without driving cab/controls.
RMT 50 and 51 were delivered in December 1948 and entered service within the same month.
The class was altered to _MT_ at a later date, perhaps early 1949.
