RM - Walkers 280hp Railcar

Between 1950 and 1952 Walkers railcars numbers 80 to 91 were placed into service. The units were built by Martin & King under licence to Walkers Ltd, England.

The railcars had an engine and transmission compartment mounted on bogies in the centre of the car. Trailer units were attached each side. Each trailer car had a driving cab.

In 1954 a power unit only was built. This was numbered 92.

Each trailer - power unit - trailer car "set" was numbered as per the power unit. However each of the trailer units had its own identification number. In service and scrapping records make no mention of these "unit" numbers. No doubt maintenance records did.

The units were out of service by the mid 1980's.
