To provide for parcels and baggage vans on interurban trains fitted with Head End Power, four vans were fitted with through cabling. This allowed the engine to be reversed at terminal stations without remarshalling the van.
The class was given as DH with numbers 401 to 404. Numbers 401 to 403 were converted from VBPY baggage vans in 1984 and van 404 modified from a _D__ van in 1985.
