'Dorai' was built at Islington Workshops and entered service December 1950. It was fitted with Bradford Kendall (BK) bogies about 1955.
In 1971 it was transferred to Victorian Railways ownership and modified to VR Sleeper 14.
The second 'Dorai' was built at Islington Workshops and was placed into service in December 1971.
It became JTB_ 4 in about 1984.
