Allambi was built new in Adelaide and placed into service 9/12/1949.
It was modified with BK bogies June 1955.
It was modified for head end power and issued to service 21/10/1970.
It was withdrawn from Joint Stock traffic and became VR Sleeper 11 on 1/8/1972.
The replacement car was built in Adelaide and entered service 3/8/1972.
