D³ - Steam Locomotive

The 'D³' locomotives were a 4-6-0 type used for light branchline use.

The original locomotives were built as D^D between 1902 and 1920.

The D^D class were split into three types from about the 1920's and became D¹, D² and D³.

The D³ numbers were between 606 and 699.

D³ 639 was for many years the 'Commissioners' engine, used to haul the annual inspection train around all the lines in Victoria.
