Now this is an elusive wagon worth tracking.
The only reference to this is in the official Register.
The entry for ballast wagon _N__ 224 shows the code crossed out and "S" applied for the new code. Later on the "S" is crossed out and N code replaced. There are no dates for these changes, no penned or pencils entries to reveal the traffic. Also there are no "Stet" references; an indication of a corrected mistake. It appears that the change to S took place about 1904 and lasted about 12 months.
The writer has deduced the dates from the style of the writing and from the colors of the inks used. Lettering can give an era when a person was writing and ink colours can vary across many months.
Otherwise, no more information.
