About 1951, the Australian Paper Manufacturers, with mills at Fairfield, Broadford and Maryvale, purchased twenty wagons similar in design to _GY_ wagons.
The wagons were privately owned and were placed into service with the code letters 'APM'. They were numbered 1 to 20.
Traffic was for brown coal haulage between Yallourn/Hernes Oak and Maryvale/Morwell.
In 1956 the wagons were purchased by the Victorian Railways and grouped into the GY class where they were given numbers 6130 - 6149. The exact conversions details/numbers are not known.
