The car was issued to service on 22/8/1923. It was built at Newport Workshops by the butty gang Scott & Party.
After four months in the workshops, the car was autocoupled during June 1936.
The car was removed from Joint Stock service and became VR Sleeper 8, issued to service on 5/9/1969.
